AHF Member Federations
 
The 17th Ordinary Congress and Council Meetings of the AHF were held on March 14th 2009, at the Holiday Inn Hotel-Kuwait. The Congress was Chaired by President Sheikh Ahmed Al Fahad Al Sabah. H.E. Sheikh Ahmed Al Fahad Al Sabah welcomed all the guests and the media representaives. He thanked Dr. Mustafa-IHF President- for his participation at the AHF Congress, expressing that his comments and experience not only will add to the discussion of the field but also will highlight the mutual co-operation between the IHF and AHF.
   
The AHF President expressed that his main goal is to develop handball in Asia to be side by side with the international Handball all over the world.
   
He added that the participation of Kuwait and Saudi Arabia in the Olympic Games-Beijing, came to confirm this development he talked about. Furthermore, he expressed that the unity in Asia was the secret of sucess.
   
His Excellency Sheikh Ahmed Al Fahad Al Sabah was congratulated by Dr. Mustafa for the renewal of a new period, which clearly demonstrates the confident in H.E.
   
Dr. Mustafa made it clear that the IHF was giving speical attention to the under-developed countries. He expressed his willingness to help to develop Handball in Asia by all means. He also referred to the excellent relation between him and Sheikh Ahmed Al Fahad, and assured him of full co-operation. He also expressed that Kuwait being a small country has a great role in Asia and that Sheikh Ahmad is the leader of all.

 
Then came the ratifying of the minutes of the preceding Congress. No objection was raised; no requests for amendments were submitted likewise. The present version of the minutes was unanimously approved.
 
Next was the Administrative report by Dr. Anand-Secretary General AHF- . Dr. Anand expressed the huge efforts of the Executive Committee, Council, Commissions and all staff at the AHF. He added that at present the AHF intends to pay more attention to develop Handball in the weak Federations. Also all commission's Presidents were asked to put a strategy for work and to provide it in due course as soon as they finish those plans. Furthermore, to bridge the difference of quality of Handball in Asia to go side by side with Handball worldwide. H.E. thanked Dr. Anand for his great efforts in the past period. He also said: "What we've noticed during the past period of time is a good proof for your efforts in developing the Asian handball image".

 
The Financial Reprot was presented by Mr. Bader Al-Theyab-Treasurer- AHF. The financial report for (2007/2008) was approved by all the attendance.

 
The Commissions' Presidents presented their reports. The Congress took note of all the reports affirmatively. The Commissions' Presidents discussed all the reports orally and individually. The members reviewed highlights and issues from the reports and found them satisfactory. All the reports were approved except the MKC Report. The delegate of Bangladesh expressed that they do more than what was menssioned in the MKC report. The president expressed his willingness to help by open discussions or holding conferences regarding this matter. He added that a comprehensive marketing plan has to be set to commercialize the Asian Handball events.
 
Election Process started at 16:45 p.m.: Unopposed Sheikh Ahmed Al Fahad Al Sabah was elected as the President of AHF for the period of 2009-2012.
   
Mr. Yoshihide Watanabe was elected as 1st vice President of AHF.
   
Three Vice Presidents were elected: Mr. Ali Reza Rahimi, Mr. Abdullah Ashour, Mr. Meng Wei.

   
The Secretary General: Dr. Roshan Anand. The Treasurer: Mr. Bader Al Theyab.
 
The Following 5 Council Members were elected unanimously: Dr. Salman bin Mohammad Al Sudairi, Mr. Sombat Kuruphan, Mr. Jing Soo Kim, Mr. Amin Al Barwany, Mr. Sami Saeed Salem Al Nuaimi.

 
The Female Member is Mrs. Gulnara Turlykhanova. The Representative for the International Handball Federation from AHF is Mr. Yoshihide Watanabe. Anwar Al Qatami & co. was appointed as the Legal Auditor.

 
The proposals submitted from AHF,Qatar, Bahrain, Jordan and Pakistan were accepted with all their principals and should be submitted to the General Authority for approval.

   
Indonesia and Singapore were approved as the new members of AHF. Dato Haji Suhaimi expressed that Brunei is interested in joining the AHF.
   
AHF activities (Calendar of Events 2009) was summarized and submitted to the Congress and Council. The Congress and Council members took note of the program of activities and approved it. Mr. Dawud Tawakoli, President PRC/AHF requested the council to include the information in the calendar about Islamic Solidarity Championship to be held in Isfahan, Iran on October 14th-22nd 2009. In addition to scheduling the time and place for the next Council Meeting.

   
H.E. distributed the best federations award for the year 2008 to Jordan Handball Federation and the Handball Association of Thailand. Also he announced a cash prize of total sum of $100,000 to be devided equally on four underdeveloped federations which will be announced later.
   
Finally, Sheikh Ahmad Al Fahad Al Sabah declared the 17th Ordinary Congress of the Asian Handball Federation officially closed at 17:45p.m. after thanking all the attendance for their participation.
